Introduction

The Online Data Reporter provides aggregated HIPE discharge data for the years 2000-2009. These data correspond to those used in the production of the Activity in Acute Public Hospitals in Ireland series of reports. Data for subsequent years will be added when the corresponding reports are published.

A user can generate a report for each year on diagnoses or procedures selected from a specified list.  Further selection criteria include age, sex and health board/health region of residence.  The variables available in the report output are:

  • Total number of discharges;

  • In-patient average length of stay;

  • Number of elective and emergency patients;

  • Number of discharges admitted from home and other location;

  • Number of discharges discharged to home and other location.

Users may also access prepared reports, known as "Quick Reports" for the same years.  These reports include:

  • Top 20 Principal Procedures for Total In-Patients and Day Patients;

  • Top 20 Principal Diagnoses for Total In-Patients and Day Patients;

  • Top 20 DRGs for Total In-Patients and Day Patients;

  • Summary Tables based on the HIPE annual reports.
