Joint ESRI/RIA Public Lecture: Business Innovation and Universities: International Approaches to Technology Transfer
Venue: Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2

Speaker: Professor David C. Mowery, Chair of New Enterprise Development, Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley.

Seminar: ‘Promoting Social Inclusion for People with Disabilities: National and European Perspectives’
Venue: The ESRI, Whitaker Square, Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2
Date: Wednesday 21/09/2011
Time: 9am to 12.30 pm.
The Social Inclusion Division in the Department of Social Protection, the National Disability Authority (NDA) and the Economic and Social Research Institute are organising a half-day national seminar to review the social and living conditions of people with disabilities and to debate policy responses at national and European levels. In addition, the seminar will examine labour market barriers for people with disabilities and consider current policies responses to improve their access to employment. Conference: 'Transition or Transaction: Moving from Second to Third-level Education in Ireland'

Two ESRI publications, Choices and Challenges (by Emer Smyth and Emma Calvert) and From Leaving Certificate to Leaving School (by Emer Smyth, Joanne Banks and Emma Calvert) will be launched at this joint HEA-NCCA Conference. "Budget Perspectives 2012" Conference:
Venue: The ESRI, Whitaker Square, Sir John Rogerson's Quay, Dublin 2.
Date: Thursday 13/10/2011.
Time: 8.30 am to 1 pm.
The Economic and Social Research Institute and the Foundation for Fiscal Studies (FFS) will hold the annual half-day "Budget Perspectives" Conference on Thursday 13 October 2011. The 14th Conference will examine some of the key economic and public finance issues that need to be considered in framing policy for the forthcoming Budget and for the medium term. The attendance includes important decision-makers in both the private and public sectors, who contribute to a lively discussion of the papers. This year’s special theme is healthcare, which accounts for a major part of public expenditure in Ireland. Visit our website to download brochure and for booking information.


Seminar: "From Administrative Data to Official Statistics"
Venue: Dublin Castle, Coach House, Dublin 2.
Date: Thursday 29/09/2011, Time: 1.30 pm.
The Central Statistics Office makes extensive use of administrative and other data to broaden the range, scope and depth of analysis that it can provide to support evidence based policy making while at the same time minimise the burden to respondents. This seminar will highlight some ongoing work within CSO with regard to using administrative data and will also showcase some creative non-CSO case studies, which illustrate how publically available datasets can be used to generate information. This is an ideal opportunity to learn about some the opportunities and challenges that face official statistics, both in Ireland and internationally. Conference: “The Irish Mortgage Market in Context”
Venue: Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 8.
Date: Thursday 13 October 2011. Time: 8.45 to 6 pm.
The Central Bank is organising this one day mortgage conference on Thursday 13 October in Dublin. The aim of the conference is to inform the debate being conducted at present concerning distress in the Irish mortgage market. Presentations will be made by John FitzGerald and by David Duffy (ESRI).
