Conference: Growing Up in Ireland Annual Conference 2011

The Growing Up in Ireland Annual Research Conference takes place today and will be opened by Ms Frances Fitzgerald T.D., Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, who will launch some Key Findings from the recently completed 3-year cohort as well as some of the first longitudinal findings from the study. EMN Ireland Research Conference: 'Documenting Irregular Migration'

The Irish National Contact Point of the European Migration Network, EMN Ireland is holding a half day conference on the topic of irregular migration. The conference will include expert international perspectives on the rights of irregular migrants, as well as focussing on irregular migration within the Common Travel Area (CTA) between Ireland and the UK. ESRI Conference on Economic Renewal: 'Public Services'
Venue: The ESRI, Whitaker Square, Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2
Date: Wednesday 14/12/2011. Time: 9 am
What can Ireland do to improve and maintain public services when budgets are being cut? This will be the focus of the second in a special series of half-day conferences on economic renewal, hosted by the ESRI. Researchers will present the best available evidence, both international and domestic, to address the following key issues for public services:
- What is the potential role of pay for performance in improving quality and efficiency in Irish health care?
- Can we improve the quality of second-level education despite the funding shortage?
- How does the general public rate the quality of different public services in Ireland?
Policymakers and other interested parties will be invited to discuss the evidence offered and to respond to the ideas and issues raised.
