Eugene Hynes

Eugene Hynes was awarded a Research Fellowship from the ESRI (1975) to study at South Illinois University at Carbondale. In 2009, his book Knock: The Virgin?s Apparition in Nineteenth Century Ireland (Cork University Press, 2008) won the James S. Donnelly, Sr., Award of the American Conference for Irish Studies for the best book in Social Science or History on an Irish topic. He is currently Associate Professor of Sociology in the Faculty of Liberal Studies at Kettering University, Flint, Michigan, USA.
