Economic Analysis | Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Rachel Slaymaker joined the ESRI in September 2017 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. She is currently completing her PhD in Economics at University of Nottingham and the title of her thesis is ‘Essays on International Migration’. Her thesis contains three distinct empirical chapters which examine the causal effect of immigration on (1) trade flows, (2) voting outcomes and (3) house prices.
Rachel holds an MSc in Economics and International Economics from University of Nottingham and a BSc in Money, Banking and Finance with Italian Studies from University of Birmingham.
During her PhD, she worked as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at University of Nottingham and as a Casual Research Assistant at the International Migration Institute, University of Oxford.
Rachel’s main research interests are in the areas of Applied Microeconometrics, International Migration and International Trade.
