James (Jim) Cummins

James (Jim) Cummins was awarded a Research Fellowship from the ESRI (1971-1973) to study for a PhD at the University of Alberta, Canada. Following his graduation he worked in the Education Resource Centre at St. Patrick?s College, Dublin, from 1974 until 1979. He is currently Professor of the Modern Language Centre in the University of Toronto, Canada. He is an internationally recognised leader in second language learning and literacy development research.
