Abstract: This project, funded under the National Disability Authority's Research Promotion Scheme, examines the factors that act as barriers or facilitators to employment for people with a disability at different life stages. The research will examine the extent to which people with a disability were affected while in education; the extent to which they left school sooner than desired; the extent to which they left a job because of their disability and the extent to which lack of access to aids or income supports hinders their employment. We draw on the research microdata file from the Central Statistics Office National Disability Survey to address these questions.
