Abstract: Selina McCoy has been appointed as the Irish national expert at the European Commission Independent Experts in Education and Training. The aim is to provide DG EAC (Education and Culture) with critical insights on:
- The Irish situation in relation to ongoing or planned education policies/reforms and;
- Progress towards related objectives set at national and EU level. In particular, the role consists of regular assessments of the Irish National Reform Programme, analysis of progress in relation to Europe 2020 targets and thematically-based monitoring and analysis.
The ESRI works towards a national vision of ‘Informed policy for a better Ireland’. This means producing high-quality analysis to provide robust evidence for policymaking, with the goals of research excellence and policy impact.
The ESRI produces research that contributes to understanding economic and social change in the new international context and that informs public policymaking and civil society in Ireland.
