Abstract: This study commissioned by InterTrade Ireland aims to develop a conceptual foundation of a sectoral ecosystem concept and to consider the potential benefits of such ecosystems on a cross border basis. The research will also develop new methods of identifying industry concentrations, and the spatial extent of these concentrations. Policy implications will be drawn with reference to case studies of three sectors: pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and software.
