Abstract: This project is funded under the EU FP7 framework and involves research teams from 19 countries. The aim of the project is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the causes of very high unemployment among young people and to assess the effectiveness of labour market policies designed to mitigate this phenomenon. ESRI researchers will be involved in research on skills mismatch in the youth labour market and research on whether ?flexicurity? regimes influence the extent and consequences of youth unemployment. The project will run for three years from April 2014.
The ESRI works towards a national vision of ‘Informed policy for a better Ireland’. This means producing high-quality analysis to provide robust evidence for policymaking, with the goals of research excellence and policy impact.
The ESRI produces research that contributes to understanding economic and social change in the new international context and that informs public policymaking and civil society in Ireland.
