The Report of the Forum on Patronage and Pluralism in the Primary Sector recommended the introduction of a common curriculum, Education about Religions and Beliefs (ERB) and Ethics, for all primary school children. Following this recommendation, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) undertook a consultation process about the content of such a curriculum. The consultation paper prepared by the ESRI analyses the data generated by an online survey targeted at educators, parents and members of the general public. This paper forms one part of a broader consultation on the proposed curriculum involving briefings and meetings with a variety of interest groups (see www.ncca.ie/consultation/erbe).
