School experiences and postschool pathways in the Republic of Ireland

This chapter shows that school social mix has a very significant influence on young people's postschool outcomes, with those who attended middle-class schools having particularly high rates of participation in higher education and those who attended working-class schools more likely to enter the labour market directly on leaving school.
