Economic Sentiment SurveyTelephone Survey of AdultsThe ESRI conducts a nationwide confidential telephone survey of adults to collect data for a number of projects at the ESRI, including the Consumer Sentiment Index (jointly published by the ESRI and KBC Bank Ireland ) and the Savings Index. The aims of the survey are to (1) track changes over time in consumer sentiment and (2) track changes over time in savings. The results will help us to understand how levels of confidence in the economy are changing so that we can plan for economic recovery. The telephone numbers for the survey are selected at random from all around the country so that we can speak to a representative group of adults age 16 and over. If you are contacted by telephone by one of our interviewers, please complete the short survey. The quality of the information depends on us speaking to as wide a range of people as possible each month. All the information collected will be treated in the strictest of confidence. Survey Design ConsultancyThe ESRI has also been commissioned by a number of public bodies to provide an expert, independent survey design service. This includes advice on survey design to answer specific policy or academic questions, sampling, mode of data collection (face-to-face interview, telephone interview, self-completion by post or web), questionnaire design, interviewer training manuals, fieldwork protocols, specifications for data collection fieldwork and sample weighting. Recent projects have included sample design and selection for the Irish component of the European Social Survey, a survey of women’s experiences at work during pregnancy, surveys of firms to collect information on conflict resolution strategies and surveys of school principals.
