ESRI Fellowship Holders 1960 to 2004

When the Institute was established, the opportunities in Ireland for advanced study in the social sciences were very limited. The Institute set up a number of scholarship programmes to assist promising graduates in further studies and, in most cases, to enable them to  obtain doctorate degrees outside Ireland. Many of these fellows have returned to Ireland and work in research institutions and public bodies. Details on these fellows are given below. The data set is still being completed and the Institute would be very happy to receive any comments/suggestions from former alumni. The information should be sent to admin@esri.ie

The fellowship programme was discontinued in 2004 when the Irish Government began to provide funding for graduates and the opportunities for undertaking doctoral research at Irish universities increased.
