Iulia SiedschlagAssociate Research ProfessorDr. Iulia Siedschlag is Associate Research Professor and Head of the Centre for International Economics and Competitiveness which includes two research programmes - International Economics and Technology, Innovation and Productivity. She is specialized in International Economics and Quantitative Economic Methods. Her doctoral research carried out at the University “Luigi Bocconi” Milan, Erasmus University Rotterdam and Catholic University Leuven focused on the economic effects of trade integration. She holds a Doctorate in Economics from the Academy for Economic Studies Bucharest, a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Warwick, and a Master Degree in Economic Sciences (ranked first) from the Academy for Economic Studies Bucharest. Her key areas of expertise include international and European economic integration, international trade and investment, economic growth of open economies, open economy macroeconomics and diffusion of new technologies. Her research has been published in leading international journals such as Open Economies Review, Journal of Economic Integration, Empirica, Applied Economics, Kyklos, Labour Economics, International Journal of Public Policy, Journal of International Business and Economy and books. Her research has been cited in a significant number of publications including international peer reviewed journals. She has received several research awards and fellowships from private and public organisations including Il Sole 24 Ore, the British Council, University of Warwick and the European Commission. In 2004 she received the Best Paper Award from the International Business and Economy Conference in San Francisco for her research on the location of manufacturing in Central and Eastern Europe in the context of increased economic integration.
