An inter-sectoral analysis by geographic area of the need for and the supply and utilisation of health services in Ireland

The overall aim of this study is to inform Irish public policy about the appropriate transfer of care from hospitals to other settings by: profiling the need for, utilisation of and supply of care outside hospitals; analysing how supply of care in non-hospital settings affects the utilisation of hospital care; and identifying those areas in Ireland with greater need for primary, community and long-term care services. The research team is led from the ESRI and is funded by the Health Research Board.
