Rachel Slaymaker

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Rachel Slaymaker joined the ESRI as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in September 2017. She obtained her PhD in Economics from University of Nottingham in 2018. Her thesis examined the causal effects of immigration on (1) trade flows, (2) voting outcomes and (3) house prices. Rachel also holds an MSc in Economics and International Economics from University of Nottingham and a BSc in Money, Banking and Finance with Italian Studies from University of Birmingham. Previously Rachel worked as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at University of Nottingham and as a Casual Research Assistant at the International Migration Institute, University of Oxford. Rachel is an applied micro-econometrician and her research interests are in the areas of International Migration, Household Finance and Financial Stability, Housing Economics and International Trade.
