Shiyu Yan joined the ESRI as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in September 2018. He holds an MSc in Environmental Economics from Wageningen University & Research (WUR) in the Netherlands and a PhD in Environmental Economics from Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in Norway. His doctoral thesis evaluates the environmental and economic influences of recent environmental transport policies on the markets for motorized vehicles (i.e. passenger cars and other light-duty vehicles) and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions, such as CO2 emissions. The papers in the thesis are accessible online with Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Energy Policy and Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment. Shiyu’s research interests include environmental economics, energy economics, transport policy, low emission vehicles, applied econometrics and economic modelling.
