Laura Malaguzzi Valeri (Ph.D., University of Michigan, 2005) is a Research Affiliate with ESRI since 2014. She was previously a Research Officer at ESRI.
Her research is in at the intersection of energy economics and industrial organization. She is particularly interested in the effects of policy changes on firms’ and individuals’ economic behaviour. Most of her recent work has focused on electricity markets and in particular on the effects of integrating wind resources on system emissions, wholesale and retail prices.
She has a side interest in road freight transport.
The ESRI works towards a national vision of ‘Informed policy for a better Ireland’. This means producing high-quality analysis to provide robust evidence for policymaking, with the goals of research excellence and policy impact.
The ESRI produces research that contributes to understanding economic and social change in the new international context and that informs public policymaking and civil society in Ireland.
