Yota completed her PhD in 2015 in the Athens University of Economics and Business. She joined the Adam Smith Business School on January 2017 as a Lecturer. She has previously held a post at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) in Dublin (post-doctoral fellow in Economics) and at the University College Dublin (part-time Lecturer).

Her research, up to now, has been published in the Journal of International Money and Finance and Journal of Banking and Finance. Her policy research on taxation, conducted in the ESRI, has been published as a policy report on the ESRI series.
