Economic Analysis | Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Petr Spodniak has joined the ESRI’s Economic Analysis Division as a Postdoctoral research fellow in September 2016 where he currently works on the topic of energy systems integration. Petr holds an M.Sc. (Econ.) and a PhD (Econ.) from Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland. His dissertation titled “Long-term transmission rights in the Nordic electricity markets: An empirical appraisal of transmission risk management and hedging” analyzes efficient hedging mechanisms against the exposure to locational price risks in the Nordic electricity markets.
His research interests include energy economics, econometrics, electricity markets, derivatives markets, transmission risks, and risk management. During his research, Petr has consulted an association of large electricity users of Finland and the Nordic energy regulators on the topics of efficient transmission risk hedging.
