Contrasting Housing Supply in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom

The presentation slides are available here.

This event will launch a new ESRI report titled Contrasting Housing Supply in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom.

This report examines the Irish, Northern Irish, Welsh, Scottish, and English residential markets with a particular focus on their capacity to increase housing supply over the short to medium term. The report compares and contrasts how differences, across the housing markets, in key costs of production, the regulatory environment, and economic dynamics have impacted the supply of housing in the different markets.

This research is part of a joint research programme between the Department of the Taoiseach’s Shared Island Unit and the ESRI on the economic and social opportunities from increased cooperation on the Shared Island.
