During the school year 2019/20 ESRI researchers Selina McCoy and Georgiana Mihut explored the experiences of students, teachers and school leaders in 11 Educate Together second-level schools. Through surveys, interviews and focus groups they captured the experiences of these key stakeholders.
At the seminar the researchers will present the key findings which reveal school communities that;
- have respect at the core of their relationships
- are reflective of the diversity of Irish society across gender, socio-economic, additional needs, cultural and language backgrounds
- are inclusive environments where students' wellbeing and sense of belonging are strongly supported
- are successfully delivering the model of 21st century teaching and learning outlined in Educate Together's Blueprint document where a strong focus on positive relationships and student-centred and active learning approaches supported by the appropriate use of technology.
Responses to the research findings will be made by:
Clive Byrne. Director the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals
Reuban Murray. President, Irish Second-level Students' Union
Alicia O'Sullivan. Education Officer, Irish Second-Level Students' Union
