ESRI researchers address the Committee on Budgetary Oversight

On 18 September 2025, ESRI researchers Alan Barrett, Claire Keane and Conor O'Toole addressed the Oireachtas Committee on Budgetary Oversight.

In advance of Budget 2026, the discussion covered Ireland’s fiscal stance and windfall tax risks, budget priorities and income supports, and economic vulnerabilities, including overheating and trade risks.

Longer-term challenges such as ageing, housing delivery, and infrastructure capacity were also addressed, alongside international risks affecting Ireland’s economic model.
