Professor Karina Doorley appointed to the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council
Today, 28 November 2025, the Tánaiste and Minister for Finance, Simon Harris TD, has appointed the ESRI's Prof Karina Doorley as a new member to the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council with immediate effect.
Prof Doorley was appointed from a panel of shortlisted candidates set up following an open selection process by Public Jobs earlier this year. Prof Doorley’s appointment to the Council will fill an existing vacancy created when outgoing member Prof Adele Bergin (ESRI) completed her term of office on 31 July 2025.
Short Biography
Karina Doorley
Prof Karina Doorley is an economist working on issues related to the tax-benefit system, the distribution of income and the sustainability of public finances. Prof Doorley obtained her PhD from UCD in 2012 and spent 5 years working in research institutes in Luxembourg and Germany before moving to the ESRI in Dublin. She is currently co-lead of the ESRI’s Tax, Welfare and Pensions (TWP) team and manages the SWITCH microsimulation model of the Irish tax-benefit system.
