September Newsletter 2021

Message from the Director:

This month we released two reports from our Social Inclusion and Equality programme: Identification of skills gaps among persons with disabilities and their employment prospects and Monitoring adequate housing in Ireland. The former was funded by the National Disability Authority (NDA) and the latter was the tenth report in a series with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC). Both publications addressed issues that are always important, but in light of the past 18 months or so their findings will prove even more relevant.

September’s research bulletins, which are short summaries of work published by ESRI researchers and overviews of thematic areas covered by ESRI programmes of research, tackled the areas of special educational needs and house prices. You can find the links to all our publications below.

In terms of events, we have a lineup of webinars and online conferences in the calendar. Hybrid and onsite are still some way off for us, but as small numbers of ESRI staff return to the office a few days a week there is some light on the horizon that in-person interactions will return. While we are keen to keep our online presence, I think I speak for most of us when I say I look forward to talking to people in-person more often as opposed to on-screen.

Regards,

Professor Alan Barrett

Director
