Elza Elmira
Elza joined the Economic and Social Research Institute as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Economic Analysis Division, in March 2026. She completed a PhD in Development Economics at the University of Bonn (Germany). Her PhD thesis focused on understanding how early life shock, cultural practices, and the food environment influences the double burden of malnutrition (DBM) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Elza's main research interests include development economics, public policy, and impact evaluation. Previously, Elza has worked in different Think Tanks such as The SMERU Research Institute, Family Health International, The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) Southeast Asia, and Eijkman-Oxford Clinical Research Unit (EOCRU). She has worked on diverse topics of health, poverty, education, and agriculture across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
