Exercises in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics
In its six chapters this book contains 119 exercises and seven worked examples, ranging from simple and advanced grade. For the third year undergraduates and 1st year graduate students who are specializing in mathematical economics and econometrics or operational research, it would provide a valuable supplement to the standard text. The answers to the exercises are grouped at the end of each chapter and, taken together, they occupy more than half the text, the more difficult questions being accorded full model-answer treatment. The basic theory required for solving the exercises is given as a preliminary section to each chapter and is set out for the benefit of econometric analysts and practitioners rather than for the mathematician. The main emphasis throughout is on applications, techniques, and methodology.
In the final chapter, guidance is given on an important aspect of economic policy-making - the forecasting of variables in economic time-series, and there are two fully worked-out examples that illustrate the testing of forecasting formulae.
