Labour Market on the Island of Ireland

This project will examine the current state of the all-island labour market, the challenges and opportunities for effective operation for workers and businesses across the island with a focus on taxation, pensions entitlement, the social welfare systems, skills and qualifications, worker mobility, the changing world of work, and trade union coverage.

The interdisciplinary project team is made up of Maureen O’Reilly, Ann-Marie O’Kane (Centre for Cross Border Studies), Rose Tierney (Expert on cross-border tax issues), Dr Anne Devlin and Prof Seamus McGuiness (both ESRI). The project is funded by the Shared Island Unit in the Department of Taoiseach and has arisen from discussions of the Labour Employment Economic Forum Shared Island Working Group.
