Socially and Environmentally Responsible Pricing of Water

This paper, by Keith Harris, Director of Finance and Regulation at Wessex Water, will be presented at the ESRI workshop entitled "Trickle or treat - Water quality, investment and pricing", on on Friday, 26 November, 2004, from 0900-1300, at the ESRI Offices, 4 Burlington Road, Dublin 4.



Utility prices are rising fast, yet these valuable resources are not being well used. Changing the way in which we charge for water is vital if we are to prevent damage to the environment and deal with social exclusion. Successful reform of policy requires positive inputs of governments, regulatory authorities and the private sector.
