Consumer sentiment increased for a third successive month, up from 67.7 in July to 70.0 in August. This month’s reading was also higher than in August of last year, when the Consumer Sentiment Index was 55.8. The 3-month moving average increased for a sixth consecutive month, rising to 66.7 from 63.7 in July.
