Covariance Analysis and Seemingly Unrelated Regressions

There is a close relationship between covariance analysis and some cases of seemingly unrelated regressions. The correspondence has been obscured by the different areas of application. Recognition of the relationship helps clarify the issue of choice between restricted and unrestricted estimates in the seemingly unrelated regressions approach.
