The Irish Graduate Labour Market: A Six-Year Follow-Up Survey of Third Level Graduates from 1992

January 1, 2000

This report covers the results of a six-year follow-up of graduates from third level. In general, graduates were found to fare extremely well in the labour market in terms of both earnings levels and success in finding employment. Migration out of Ireland was very common among graduates, with one-third having emigrated at some stage over the six year period since graduation and about half of these having subsequently returned to work in Ireland. Migration had a substantial effect on incomes: those who migrated tended to have higher incomes than those that stayed in Ireland throughout the period since graduation
