TRAILS

The TRAILS project aims to identify skills gaps and skills shortages across European countries, and to propose appropriate policy actions in this area. It is funded by Horizon Europe over a three-year period from 2024-2026, involving collaboration from research institutes and universities in Greece, Italy, Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands. Led by Dr Paul Redmond, the ESRI will lead several work packages to carry out research in the following areas,

  • Trends in skills mismatch over time, with an emphasis on the impact of COVID-19 on skills mismatch.
  • The impact of technological change on skills mismatch, and the role for training in supporting the process of upskilling
  • The relationship between recent trends in skills mismatch and labour market outcomes such as wages and job satisfaction.
