Gender and education: why do girls "do better" than boys?

Professor Emer Smyth delivered a presentation titled Gender and education: why do girls "do better" than boys? as part of the Spring 2017 Seminar Series at the David Hume Institute in Scotland. The presentation discussed the widespread, but little studied, issue of the underperformance of boys at all stages of education from pre-school to first degree.
