Arya Pillai joined the Economic Analysis Division as a post-doctoral researcher in May 2020.
She holds a PhD in Quantitative social sciences from University College Dublin (2019) in the subject area of development economics. Her doctoral research was focused on the welfare implications of financial access to low income households. She previously worked as a post-doctoral researcher and lecturer at University College Dublin. She completed her MSc (Banaras Hindu University, India) and BSc (Kerala Agriculture University, India) degrees in Agricultural science.
Arya's research interests include applied micro-econometrics, development economics, poverty, quantitative methods, policy evaluation etc. Her research in ESRI focuses on the adoption of energy efficient practices by low income households in Ireland.
