Medical card non-take-up: estimates and financial implications

We estimate that 31 per cent of eligible individuals do not take up a Medical Card. Families not taking up the card are significantly more likely to report having an unmet health need due to financial reasons and they spend more on healthcare and private health insurance per annum.
