ESRI Newsletter August 2021

Message from the Director:

The number of publications tends to be a bit lower over the summer at the ESRI as we try to avoid releasing material when many of you are on annual leave. Having said that, over the past two months we have published a series of important Research Bulletins. Topics such as green spaces, fuel poverty and medical card take-up were covered. I highly recommend you read these short publications which summarise work published by ESRI researchers in scientific journals. Reports on healthcare expenditure and data management within the international protection procedure in Ireland were also published.

In other news, our joint masters programme with TCD is still accepting applications and will commence in January 2022. You can watch a short video about the course – including a contribution from the Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe T.D.

As we move into September, we are back to presenting our new publications at a variety of digital events. Next month we are launching reports with IHREC and the NDA. We have the annual UCD ESRI Energy Policy Research Conference taking place at the end of the month. You can register for all events below. You can also find a link to watch a conference we held with Threshold from early July on the pressing topic of the rental market during the pandemic. We hope that in the coming months we will be able to offer an in-person gathering or two, but in the meantime we are delighted to continue communicating our research digitally with audiences.

Regards,

Professor Alan Barrett

Director
