Joint Research Programme on the experiences of persons with disabilities across key policy areas

The aim of this Research Programme, funded by the National Disability Authority, is to create, improve and enhance knowledge on disability matters in a range of policy areas. The programme is co-ordinated by Selina McCoy.  The research informs policy generally but is also useful to considering how Ireland is meeting its obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The topics which are researched are guided by a Steering Committee, and consultation between the ESRI team and the National Disability Authority. In the first two years the programme focused on two areas: employment of persons with disabilities and supports for independent living in the community. In 2022 - 2023, the research will focus on employment in the context of COVID-19 and social desirability bias in behaviour and attitudes towards disability.
