Demos Michael

Demos Michael has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at ESRI since January 2026 and is currently a member of the Education team within the Social Research Division.

His research focuses on three main areas: (a) evaluation of programmes, policies, and interventions, (b) studying the mechanisms of educational inequality and effective approaches to addressing it, and (c) applied research using (quasi-)experimental designs to support educational improvement.

Demos earned his PhD in Educational Administration and Evaluation from the University of Cyprus. He has extensive experience managing European and nationally funded projects to support educational practice and has contributed to the development and evaluation of state policies in Cyprus in collaboration with governmental authorities (e.g., the local Ministry of Education) and international organisations (e.g., UNICEF).
