Ilias Kostarakos

Ilias Kostarakos joined the ESRI as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in August 2017. Ilias holds a PhD and an MPhil in Economics from the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His doctoral dissertation focused on the application of control theory techniques to the theory of economic policy and, specifically, to the design of fiscal policy rules. In particular, the thesis provides a framework for the design of fiscal policy rules based on algorithmic (adaptive) feedback control techniques.

Primary research interests include fiscal policy design, computational economics and the application of control theory in economic systems. His research has been published in journals like Computational Economics.

Prior to joining the ESRI, Ilias worked as a policy adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister of Greece.
